Food is a necessity for everyone – especially to fuel the growing minds of college students. So how are the students at UH Mānoa able to meet their nutritional needs on top of growing costs?
Through the lens of a commuter, on-campus resident, and off-campus resident, three students shared their experience of adapting to food prices.
“The prices are starting to get really crazy on lunch. Like at Paradise Palms, it’s like, what? $14 for a poke bowl?” said Lahela Tuazon, a commuter student at UH Mānoa.
Students noticed the prices they pay don’t align with the nutrients they need. As prices change, students adapt their eating habits to what they can afford – not what their bodies require.
