Corrections Policy

Corrections, Clarifications and Retractions

The Mānoa Mirror is committed to accuracy, fairness and transparency. When we make mistakes, we correct them openly and promptly.

In alignment with the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics, if a published story contains a material error of fact, attribution, context or presentation, we will issue a clear correction as soon as the error is confirmed. Corrections are labeled plainly and explain what was wrong and what has been corrected.

When additional context is needed but no factual error exists, we may publish a clarification or editor’s note. Routine updates to developing stories are labeled as such and do not replace required corrections.

Corrections and clarifications are written in clear, neutral language and are placed where readers of the original content are likely to see them. Original content remains publicly accessible whenever feasible.

In cases involving fundamental inaccuracies, serious ethical concerns, or risk of harm, a story may be retracted or removed, with an explanation provided whenever possible.

We welcome feedback from readers and sources and encourage anyone who believes an error has occurred to contact the editorial staff. To report a correction, please send an email to: [email protected].
