Students from Yasuda Women’s University hosted Japan Culture Day at Campus Center on April 17.
Partnered with the Hawai‘i English Language Program (HELP), Yasuda Women’s University students displayed a range of activities from tap-tap sumo to Japanese calligraphy.
“We settled on Japan Culture Day, setting that aside, because there’s so many students at campus who have connections whether family or whatever with Japan,” said Joel Weaver, director of HELP. “And we thought that this would be an opportunity for them to see parts of Japanese culture which they may not have been aware of before.”
No stages or spotlights, just the hands-on experiences brought Japanese culture to life at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
