About Us
Mission and Purpose
Our publication serves as a platform for student journalists to engage with the campus and local community through credible, compelling storytelling.
Founded in 2023, The Mānoa Mirror showcases news stories crafted by students in the journalism program at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. The publication reports on issues that are relevant to the 25,000 people who live on or near the campus, including students, staff and faculty members. The Mirror covers topics ranging from life at UH to the vibrant culture of Honolulu, as well as opinion pieces on current events.
The Cooke Foundation and Press Forward have awarded grants to the Mirror to address the critical need for enhanced local news coverage in Hawai‘i and to amplify student voices to the broader public.
The Mānoa Mirror upholds professional standards of truth, fairness, accuracy and responsibility. This statement outlines our editorial guidelines and submission procedures to help both student contributors and faculty understand the expectations for publication.
