Asia, Europe, Oceania, Latin America are just some of the options that the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa offers for students when studying abroad. If a student wants to attend over summer, for a semester, or for a year, UH offers many opportunities to fit your needs when choosing to study abroad.
With UH’s abroad programs, they are sorted out by “area of study” or what major the student is trying to pursue. These areas of studies include language, architecture, business, education, humanities and social science, and STEM. Each category of studies has certain locations that are meant for that specific topic.
But don’t worry, says UH, because students can even apply and participate in the University’s self-designed study abroad program. This allows students who don’t have the ability to participate in the traditional study abroad programs to still experience studying abroad.

As most students haven’t studied abroad, other students who have already participated in either a semester or summer abroad were willing to share their experiences. Giving advice on challenges faced, favorite memories from their time abroad, and advice they would give to students who are wanting to study abroad.
“I felt really home sick and a little uneasy,” said UH Mānoa student Maggie Saracevic when asked about any challenges faced when studying abroad.“But that quickly changed and I was good.”
