On Feb. 17, the UH Esports League of Legends team upset longtime rivals, San Jose State University, in a decisive 2-0 sweep. The UHE League team was one of the original eight teams that were founded with the start of the program back in 2015. For the past two years Kylin “Half Koa” Daniel has lead the League team and became a main draw of the esports ecosystem in Hawai’i by participating in things like the grand opening of the new Waipahu Library Tech Lab, and even competing in local events at Kawaii Kon every year. In addition, team captain and support Donald “Yunision” Yu and Brandon “Lasius” Nguyen have been players on the team for the past two years, growing into two of the highest-ranked players in the state.
